Energetics Welcomes Paul Scheihing, Energy Management Subject Matter Expert

26, Sep

Energetics is pleased to welcome Paul Scheihing to our ranks! Paul is a subject matter expert in energy management systems (EnMSs), a key growth area for our company. He comes to us with over 30 years of experience working on manufacturing energy efficiency and energy management at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Advanced Manufacturing Office.

Tracy Evans, Pamela de los Reyes, Ridah Sabouni, and other Energetics staff have long supported DOE in its efforts to accelerate industry EnMS adoption. Our energy management efforts go beyond domestic programs; for example, we have supported the Energy Management Working Group, a Clean Energy Ministerial initiative, since its inception in 2010. All the programs we support have a particular emphasis on ISO 50001, the international energy management standard. ISO 50001 is the global best practice to help large organizations save energy. It provides a framework and roadmap for organizations looking to cut their energy bills through improved energy performance. We have worked side by side with Paul to increase awareness and uptake of the standard, furthering DOE’s Superior Energy Performance program, which he co-created and led during his DOE tenure.

Paul is now available to work more closely with Energetics in furthering ISO 50001 adoption by industry, commercial organizations, and federal agencies. His first assignment is to join Ridah, Tracy, and Pamela in support of a new project for the Saudi Energy Efficiency Center (SEEC) in its mission to improve domestic energy efficiency. SEEC plans to leverage the existing DOE 50001 Ready Program, including the 50001 Ready Navigator tool, an online dashboard that facilitates EnMS implementation in conformance with ISO 50001. Energetics will leverage its Dubai office to support SEEC in developing a national 50001 Ready Program for Saudi Arabia, leveraging our experience with the DOE program to customize a program that best fits Saudi Arabia’s specific needs. We will also help build industry awareness of ISO 50001 to encourage wide adoption.

Paul’s experience and expertise make him the consummate teammate in this effort. In addition to his DOE work, he was a member of the U.S. Technical Advisory Group that developed ISO 50001. Paul is a 50001 Certified Practitioner in Energy Management Systems (50001 CP EnMS) through the Institute of Energy Management Professionals and a recipient of the prestigious American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy 2013 “Champions of Energy Efficiency in Industry” award. He holds an MS and a BS in mechanical engineering.
